
Ladies Tennis
Blackrock Tennis Club has a great deal to offer anyone who enjoys the game of tennis, whether for health and fitness or serious competition.
Ladies social tennis is played each Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10pm and Thursday morning from 10am to 12 noon. These times present an ideal opportunity for the beginner or new member to find their feet and continue to be enjoyed by more seasoned players.
For the more serious player, opportunities exist to participate in the DLTC Leagues. The Club enters teams in Classes 3, 4, 5 and 7 in the Winter League and Classes 4 and 5 in the Summer League. The Club also enters teams in the over 35 League at Classes 3 and 5. In addition teams are entered in the Charity Leagues in the Spring and Autumn These matches are played on Monday and Tuesday mornings. The Charity League is open to league players (Class 6 and 7) as well as non league players. The club also takes part in the locally based 5 Mile League, which is held in May/June.
The Club Championships are run each year in September and provide a great focal point in the club for everyone concerned. Ladders for both singles and doubles have recently been set up to facilitate selection of League teams.
American tournaments and mixed team tennis afford opportunities for mixed double. Club members can arrange their own matches and book courts one weeks in advance. For beginners and anyone who wants to improve their game, coaching is available with Dave or Lesley and more recently Cardiotennis has been introduced for those who want a more extreme experience!
